Larger varieties like the DD Blanchard Southern Magnolia will flourish as the glorious centerpiece of a yard, standing 60-70 feet tall. Little Gem Magnolias, which produce flowers for six months, make a stunning addition to dress up an indoor garden or smaller landscape. The prominent, large white flowers of magnolia trees are synonymous with Southern style. This gorgeous Southern native grows about one foot per year, reaching anywhere between 10 and 20 feet tall when it is fully grown. The Vitex is a hardy tree that boasts aromatic green leaves and grows quickly in most climate and soil conditions. You’ll know a Vitex tree by its ostentatious canopy of purple flowers it produces in the summer and fall months. Surprisingly, this species is not related to the willow, as the name might suggest. Its pink and violet orchid-like flowers are members of the bignonia family. A well-drained, raised bed is the best location to plant desert willows, especially in areas where annual rainfall is greater than 30 inches. Great for the low maintenance gardener, this hearty desert tree will survive in dry soil conditions with full sun in the Texas heat. These flowering beauties love sunlight and can grow up to 25 feet tall. Because of its extra long blooming period, it has been called the “flowering tree of 100 days.” Add a dwarf variety as a standout addition to a landscape, or plant a large Crepe Myrtle tree as a front-yard focal point. Redbuds can withstand drought and easily adapt in alkaline soil conditions, reaching heights of up to 20 feet tall.Īvailable in an array of sizes and colors, the Crepe Myrtle is a southern charmer with its brilliant blooms in both the summer and fall. As one of the most picturesque signs of the season with their heart-shaped leaves and brilliant buds, these are the perfect ornamental trees to brighten up any yard or garden. Texas Redbud trees enthusiastically announce spring with a vibrant cloud of pink and purple blooms. Whether you are looking for the perfect photo opportunity or a beautiful backdrop for a picnic, these are the trees to keep your eye on when warmer weather rolls around. I will link pictures below. As longer days of sunshine summon us outside, the prettiest trees in Texas begin to show their true colors, dropping hints that spring has arrived. As a final note, if your budget includes it, I would Include a glitzy (is that a word) glass light fixture, which would really add some drama to the room. By the black and white abstract painting, I mean BLACK and WHITE, not all the gray tones in between that you would find in a photograph. ![]() If it were me, I would go with a black and white photograph or a black and white abstract painting. ![]() However, it would still be better than a warm-colored painting. I also think that if you get and a green-and-purple themed painting, like suggested above, it might over play the theme and/or blend in. Of course, the flowers at the start of the bloom period are not the same as those which occur later. While I appreciate contrast (Actually, I love contrast), the picture being the only point of contrast in the room would not look good at all. I would refrain from going with warmer colors like reds and oranges and yellows. I also think that the wall with the armoir against it should have some sort of art against it. Black, while being a neutral, would also help anchor the space as well as modernize it. If you are against white curtains for any reason, I would go with black curtains to match your now black lamps. I also agree with whoever said white curtains, however, I would go with sheer. This is an excellent idea and will add depth to the room by layering peices. I agree with whoever said to buy a white rug extending partway under the bed. If you choose to get new ones, I would go with something slightly taller than you would imagine a table lamp being, and go with white shades. I kind of skimmed the comments so I don't know if you decided to keep and paint your lamps, or to get new ones. Maybe you could get a green accent pillow? I would also recomend keeping the sheets white to jazz with the white nightstands you bought. Then get some purple bedding a couple shades darker than the other walls, so it isn't green bedding against green walls. This will brighten up the space and add alot of drama. I know you don't want to repaint, but what about wallpapering one of the walls in a bright green pattern as an accent wall.
